Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Pinner, North West London
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:00
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN school in Pinner. This unique role combines sports coaching with classroom-based learning support, using physical activity to promote engagement, teamwork, positive behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Sports Coaching

  • Lead and organise structured sports and physical activities that promote teamwork, cooperation, and leadership

  • Develop inclusive sports programmes that engage pupils of all abilities

  • Use sport as a tool to support behaviour regulation, confidence, and social skills

  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment during all physical activities

Classroom & SEN Support

  • Support teachers with classroom management and pupil engagement

  • Provide targeted support to pupils, particularly those with Autism (ASC)

  • Integrate physical activity into learning to support focus and participation

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups as required

Student Wellbeing

  • Promote mental wellbeing, resilience, and healthy lifestyles through physical activity

  • Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs

  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support individual needs

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with staff to plan activities, events, and enrichment programmes

  • Maintain basic records of pupil progress and engagement

  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in sports coaching, ideally within an educational setting

  • Ability to use sport to develop life skills, confidence, and emotional regulation

  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism or SEN (highly desirable)

  • Relevant coaching qualifications preferred

  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
