Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Pinner, North West London
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:00
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN school in Pinner. This unique role combines sports coaching with classroom-based learning support, using physical activity to promote engagement, teamwork, positive behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Sports Coaching
Lead and organise structured sports and physical activities that promote teamwork, cooperation, and leadership
Develop inclusive sports programmes that engage pupils of all abilities
Use sport as a tool to support behaviour regulation, confidence, and social skills
Ensure a safe and supportive environment during all physical activities
Classroom & SEN Support
Support teachers with classroom management and pupil engagement
Provide targeted support to pupils, particularly those with Autism (ASC)
Integrate physical activity into learning to support focus and participation
Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups as required
Student Wellbeing
Promote mental wellbeing, resilience, and healthy lifestyles through physical activity
Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support individual needs
Collaboration & Communication
Work collaboratively with staff to plan activities, events, and enrichment programmes
Maintain basic records of pupil progress and engagement
Communicate effectively with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues
What We’re Looking For
Experience in sports coaching, ideally within an educational setting
Ability to use sport to develop life skills, confidence, and emotional regulation
Experience supporting pupils with Autism or SEN (highly desirable)
Relevant coaching qualifications preferred
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
