Safeguarding
Our guide to the responsibilities of supply agencies in providing staff to education establishments.
Uniform Education is one of the UK’s leading providers of staffing and supply for schools. We believe in working together to support the aspirations of your school and more importantly your children’s safety.
As a provider of staff to schools, we at Uniform Education place a great deal of importance on the vetting, checking and clearing of all teachers, nursery nurses and support staff. This document will give you a clear picture of the level of checking carried out by Uniform Education, and serves as a guide to the range of checks that should be carried out to be compliant with government guidelines.
What needs to be checked?
The recruitment and vetting checks that both schools & supply agencies are expected to carry out are set down in Chapter 4 of the DfE publication“Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education”They are:
Identity
Barred List
Qualifications
DBS Enhanced Disclosure
References & employment history
Right to work in the UK
Further overseas checks where appropriate
Where supply staff has been provided through Uniform Education, the school will receive written confirmation from us certifying that it has satisfactorily completed all the required checks. The school does not need to carry out the checks itself, but must record on their single central record whether it received confirmation from Uniform Education.
We provide you with the evidence:
Every booking confirmation email we send provides the exact information you require to complete your single central record, arranged in the format suggested by the DfE. The booking confirmation will also contain a photograph of the person expected in your school.
