Key Stage 2 Teacher required for an inner city school in Southwark to start September 2018.
An inner city school in Southwark are in search of a KS2 teacher to start in September 2018. Inner London main pay range/upper pay range depending on experience. There is even possibility of TLR for the right candidate. They key purpose of this role will be to take responsibility for the education and welfare of a designated class of 30 children in accordance with the current school teachers pay and conditions document, having due regard to the requirements of the National Curriculum and LEA and school policies. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working across KS2 in a mainstream primary school. NQTs are welcome to apply too. You must have QTS.
- Be required to carry out the professional duties of a teacher and ensure that all teacher standards are met to a high standard.
- Maintain assessment records and report on pupil's progress to senior staff, parents and carers in accordance with school policy.
- Manage other adults within the classroom.
- Plan work for the class in accordance with national, LEA and school curriculum polices and in co-operation with subject and phase leaders to ensure that the children experience a broad, balanced, relevant and stimulating curriculum.
- Ensure a close match between the learning experience offered and individual needs of children in class, so as to give each child an opportunity to achieve to the maximum of their capacity.
- Make appropriate educational provisions for children with SEN and those learning EAL, with support from the Inclusion Manager and EMA Co-ordinators.
- Where possible, to make sure the majority of the children's work is closely linked to first-hand practical experience.
- Provide children with opportunities to manage their won learning and become independent learners.
- Create a secure, happy and stimulating classroom environment, maintaining the highest standards of organisations and discipline.
- To foster each child's self-image and esteem, and establish relationships which are based on mutual respect.
- Maintain high standards of display both in the classroom and other areas of the school.
- Arrange for resources, equipment and materials to be available in such a way that they are cared for, easy accessible and will encourage children to become more responsible for their own learning.
- Work closely with colleagues to undertake medium and short term planning and the implementation of agreed schemes of work.
- Assess children's progress, maintain records and provide written reports to parents and carers in accordance with school policies.
- Communicate and consult with parents, carers and outside agencies as necessary, about children's progress and attainment.
- Ensure the school's aims and objectives in relation to the curriculum, equal opportunities and discipline are promoted in every day classroom organisation and practice.
- Liaise with support staff both school based, from the LEA and other external bodies as required.
- Take responsibility for the management of other adults in the classroom.
- Take the opportunity for continuous professional development through self-directed reading, courses and in-service training.
- Undertake other reasonable and relevant duties in accordance with changing needs of the school.
- Take responsibility for a curriculum subject area as agreed with the Headteacher.
