Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or a graduate looking to start a career in education?

Uniform Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH) to join a specialist Alternative Provision in London, supporting students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and behavioural challenges.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor, SEN TA, or aspiring teacher looking to gain valuable experience in a high-impact setting.

SEND Teaching Assistant Role – SEMH (Secondary)

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support students both academically and emotionally, helping them re-engage with education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs

  • Adapt learning materials to suit individual learning styles and abilities

  • Monitor and track student progress and behaviour

  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Deliver engaging activities (e.g. creative arts, drama, interactive learning)

  • Manage classroom challenges and support conflict resolution

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers where required

Requirements – SEND Teaching Assistant (London)

To be considered for this SEND TA job in London, you should have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN / SEMH (preferred)

  • Background in education, youth work, care, or coaching (desirable)

  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding

  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
