Uniform Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH) to join a specialist Alternative Provision in London, supporting students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and behavioural challenges.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor, SEN TA, or aspiring teacher looking to gain valuable experience in a high-impact setting.
SEND Teaching Assistant Role – SEMH (Secondary)
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support students both academically and emotionally, helping them re-engage with education.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
Adapt learning materials to suit individual learning styles and abilities
Monitor and track student progress and behaviour
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Deliver engaging activities (e.g. creative arts, drama, interactive learning)
Manage classroom challenges and support conflict resolution
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams
Communicate effectively with parents and carers where required
Requirements – SEND Teaching Assistant (London)
To be considered for this SEND TA job in London, you should have:
Experience working with children or young people with SEN / SEMH (preferred)
Background in education, youth work, care, or coaching (desirable)
Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding
A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
