Outreach Tuition London | SEND Tutors & 1:1 Alternative Provision | Uniform Education

When a pupil is struggling to access school, the answer is not always another classroom placement. Sometimes education needs to go to the pupil.

At Uniform Education, our outreach tuition service supports children and young people who need education delivered outside a traditional school setting. We provide experienced outreach tutors, qualified teachers and specialist SEND support staff across London and the Home Counties, working with schools, local authorities and families to keep pupils learning.

Education beyond the classroom

Outreach tuition can take place in a pupil’s home, local library, community centre, education centre or another agreed safe setting. It can provide an important bridge back into education for pupils who are unable to access their usual school placement.

The reasons vary enormously. A pupil may have SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, anxiety, school avoidance, medical needs or an EHCP. Others may have been permanently excluded, be awaiting a specialist placement or need additional educational support while their longer-term provision is being arranged.

The important part is finding the right person.

Our outreach tutors are selected not simply because they can teach, but because they can build relationships with pupils who may have become disengaged from education. Patience, consistency, safeguarding awareness and the ability to adapt learning around the individual are essential.

SEND outreach tutors and 1:1 tuition

A large part of our work is within SEND and alternative provision.

Uniform Education can provide tutors and education staff for:

  • 1:1 SEND tuition and personalised learning

  • SEMH and behaviour support

  • Autism and ADHD support

  • English and Maths tuition

  • Functional Skills

  • KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4 tuition

  • GCSE preparation and intervention

  • Reintegration and transition programmes

  • Pupils awaiting a school or specialist placement

  • Children unable to attend school because of medical or emotional needs

  • Home, library and community-based education

Where appropriate, we can source QTS teachers alongside experienced SEND tutors and LSAs, depending on the needs of the pupil and the education package being commissioned.

Working with London boroughs and local authorities

Uniform Education has been supporting schools and education services for more than a decade. Our outreach work has developed alongside our wider SEND recruitment service, giving us access to a substantial network of teachers, tutors, LSAs, behaviour mentors and specialist education professionals.

We understand that local authority tuition is about considerably more than filling hours on a timetable. Safeguarding, suitability, reliability, communication and continuity matter.

Our team works closely with commissioners, schools and education professionals to understand the referral before identifying suitable candidates. That can include the pupil’s educational level, SEND requirements, location, timetable, preferred learning environment and objectives for the placement.
